coming together as a group of learners
Welcome!  We are very excited about this 2009/2010 school year! I am Erin Black and the preschool teacher for my third year here at Ames!  Laura Butler is my wonderful assistant.  I am looking forward to changing and developing the minds of all the new pre-k students.  We have a lot to accomplish this school year including math skills, literacy knowledge, computer opportunities, field trip experiences, and making friends.  The preschool program focuses on community circle time where we learn to

be a productive group of learners, friends, and  community!  We incorporate small groups into the day with a focus on specific skills such as letter and number recognition.  Active learning is where the students choose their area of play in a well-planned and skillful environment.  We also do a lot of learning through songs and books!   Please feel free to come and see what is going on in our room anytime. Call me anytime with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
